The postseason opened in style at Los Medanos College Gym on Wednesday night, as the Mustangs delivered a commanding 77–58 win over the College of the Siskiyous in the first round of the playoffs.
Los Medanos set the tone early, erupting for 28 points in the first quarter while holding Siskiyous to just 10. The early surge created a separation that the Mustangs never surrendered. After a tighter second quarter, LMC came out of halftime with another statement, pouring in 24 third-quarter points to regain full control and push the lead comfortably into double digits.
Lamiyah Washington led the way with 24 points on an efficient 9-of-14 shooting performance, adding five rebounds, four assists, and four steals in an all-around effort. Eve Monzon followed with 21 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc while contributing four assists and four rebounds.
Kendall McClure filled up the stat sheet with 13 points and a game-high seven assists, consistently creating scoring opportunities for teammates. Off the bench, Rayona Jackson provided a major boost in the paint, pulling down 15 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass, to go along with seven points.
As a team, the Mustangs shot 44.6 percent from the field, connected on seven three-pointers, and controlled the boards, including 10 offensive rebounds. Defensively, LMC was active and disruptive, finishing with 20 steals and forcing 20 turnovers to fuel transition opportunities.
