Bio
Derek Domenichelli was hired as the Men’s Basketball Coach at Los Medanos College in the spring of 2002, and he has been a key figure in the program ever since. Over his 19 seasons as head coach, Domenichelli has led the Mustangs to the playoffs 12 times and has developed a program marked by both competitive success and player advancement. Under his leadership, the team has produced 4 All-State players, 3 Conference Players of the Year, 52 All-Conference selections, and 109 student-athletes who have transferred to four-year institutions, totaling 365 career wins. He has also been recognized as Coach of the Year three times.
In addition to coaching, Domenichelli is a faculty member in the Kinesiology/Athletics Department and has taught and coached at LMC since Fall 2001. Prior to joining Los Medanos College, he coached at Pittsburg High School for three seasons, leading the team to a league championship and a 72-18 overall record. He also served as an assistant coach at San Jose City College and Cal State East Bay.
