Bio
Los Medanos College is proud to welcome Robert Ralston as its new Head Baseball Coach, bringing with him an unmatched depth of experience, a championship pedigree, and a lifelong dedication to player development.
Coach Ralston's resume reads like a baseball almanac. A former professional player in the Minnesota Twins and Oakland A’s organizations, he transitioned seamlessly into a 30+ year coaching career that spans high school, collegiate, and professional levels. Most recently, he served as Head Coach for the Bellingham Bells, a top-tier collegiate summer league program. His coaching stops include assistant roles at St. Mary’s College and UC Berkeley, as well as head coaching stints at Cal State East Bay, Diablo Valley College, and Clayton Valley High School—where he also served as Athletic Director.
While at Cal State East Bay, Ralston was named CCAA and West Region Coach of the Year in 2016 after leading the program to a league title and record-setting win total, all while maintaining a 3.0 team GPA. His career win totals, league championships, and coaching accolades are numerous, including multiple Coach of the Year honors and three CIF Section Titles at the high school level.
A member of the 2024 University of Arizona Athletic Hall of Fame class and a 1984 First-Team College All-American, Ralston's impact on the game has been recognized at every level. His coaching philosophy emphasizes character, academic excellence, and a competitive spirit—values that align perfectly with LMC’s mission.
Coach Ralston holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from Cal State East Bay, and a California State Teaching Credential from Chapman University. His combination of elite baseball acumen and educational leadership makes him a transformative hire for the Mustangs baseball program.
With deep roots in the Bay Area and a track record of excellence, Coach Ralston is ready to lead LMC Baseball into a bold new era.
