John McDermott

John McDermott serves as the Equipment Coordinator for Los Medanos College Athletics, ensuring that student-athletes have the gear and resources they need to perform at their best. With a meticulous eye for detail and a deep understanding of the demands of collegiate sports, John manages inventory, organizes equipment distribution, and oversees the maintenance and safety of all athletic gear across LMC’s programs. 

Before joining Los Medanos College, John was the head football coach at Contra Costa College, where he developed a strong understanding of the athletic environment and the needs of student-athletes. His coaching experience gives him unique insight into how equipment and preparation directly impact performance, making him an invaluable resource for LMC teams. 

Known for his reliability and hands-on approach, John works closely with coaches and athletes to support daily practices, competitions, and special events. His organizational skills and proactive management ensure that teams are always prepared and that equipment meets the highest standards of safety and performance. 

Outside of the equipment room, John is passionate about supporting student-athletes’ success and fostering a positive, efficient environment within Mustang Athletics. He enjoys staying involved in the local sports community and mentoring students interested in athletic operations and sports management.
